The evidence-based practice (EBP) course has been extremely beneficial in developing my nursing practice. There are a variety of strategies I will incorporate into my leadership style and will guide my future practices. The first is creating a culture of EBP within the organization by empowering clinicians to have a spirit of inquiry. As a nurse we need to be forward-thinking and encourage other clinicians to be as well (Denisco, 2021). As a masters prepared nurse leader my duty will go even further, to create a culture of self-accountability and self-desire to challenge the status quo to improve the care provided to patients.
The second strategy I will incorporate into my practice using a model to assist in the change process. The models help to guide the change process by using a standard approach ensuring that all components are met prior to moving into the next phase. I have found ensuring the proper path for phases of change is a critical step in the process. Change is a difficult and emotional process therefore leaders need to be an example for staff (Melnyk & Fineout-Overholt, 2019).
The third strategy I will incorporate into my practice is the data collection design and tools. It’s important to collect relevant data to support the practice changes.
