The journal article represents a peer-reviewed type of article by its methodological design. The prevalence of unnecessary antibiotic use in nursing home facilities is on the rise though antibiotic stewardship has been introduced since 2017 implementation has been inconsistent in the long-term care facility (Wu et al., 2019). Therefore, the need to enforce the guideline and program is vital. The most effective outcomes derived from the article after the systemic review and meta-analysis were extracted for the implementation of the antibiotic stewardship program. The review yielded different successful strategic approaches for antibiotic stewardship. Such methods included the implementation of guidelines as most pressure for prescribing comes from the patient (Wu et al., 2019). The review provided insight into antimicrobial stewardship strategies for implementation in long-term care facilities and factors to consider when designing an Antimicrobial stewardship program, in the nursing home setting. While no bias was reported in the article, however, Antimicrobial stewardship program researchers are warned to remain cautious about potential publication bias (Wu, et al., 2019).
