Change is expected because of the aging process however, nurses should still consider what triggered the change. Besides, most relatives do not accept to have their members discharged until they are in a stable condition, and thus patients die in hospitals. Even after a patient is stabilized in the ED, most primary caregivers prefer that the patient be observed in the wards before they are discharged so that the condition does not worsen after discharge. Furthermore, patients in the last days have breathing difficulties that require oxygen and close monitoring by healthcare providers. Since most households do not have oxygen equipment and machines such as oximeters, patients are forced to remain hospitalized and thus spend their last days in healthcare facilities.
