Welcome to Week 1!
This week, you will learn the basic tenets of safely prescribing antibiotics. Antibiotics are medications used to treat infectious diseases. Careful considerations are required when prescribing antibiotic treatment. Antibiotics are powerful agents that have contributed immensely to society; however, consideration must be given to ensure the benefits outweigh the risk of adverse effects to the patient. Increased resistance may result from overuse and overprescribing. Rising rates of anti-microbial resistance have led to the decreased use of antibiotics.
