DNP-805A-Health Care Informatics
The course will provide foundations used in technology/information systems to improve and support healthcare systems and patient care. Also, the course is curated to provide students with various tools required to manage personal and aggregate level information and utilize technology to evaluate care systems, outcomes and care programs using industry standards and related legal, regulatory and ethical principles. Students must synthesize and integrate core program competency and specialty practice needs to show proficiency in advanced nursing practice.
Students should have completed DNAP-801A before doing this course.
Topic 1: Introduction to Healthcare Informatics: Language and Theories of Informatics

Topic 3: Computer Provider Order Entry (CPOE) Systems and Clinical Decision Support Systems (CDSS)
Using CPOE and CDSS
In this assignment, students will choose a clinical practice problem relating to a specific medication. Then, they will use a CPOE to create a CDSS incorporated into the EHR at their practice.
The requirement is that the CDSS must work with the CPOE to include medication.
