Adverse interaction between blacks and authorities, such as law enforcement, leads to a lack of trust in public safety, including medical and mental health care. The indirect effect on mental health police mistreatment occurs to minorities who know mistreatment from racial profiling. Vick et al. (2017) affirm that cardiovascular disease and hypertension are significantly prevalent in African Americans compared to their white counterparts. The most notable cause is socioeconomic statutes, education, exposure to racism, and stress. Environment exposure includes unsafe living and sanitary conditions, menial jobs, unsafe employment, and poor neighborhoods.
