The first thing to do once you receive an assignment is to quickly skim through the requirements. Once that is done, start going through the instructions one by one to clearly understand what the instructor wants. The most important thing here is to understand the required format—whether it is APA, MLA, Chicago, etc.
After understanding the requirements of the paper, the next phase is to gather relevant materials. The first place to start the research process is the weekly resources. Sample Answer for DNP 840 Reflective Journal
This assignment serves the purpose of attesting that the DNP student has participated and engaged in particular activities to achieve the American Association of Colleges of Nursing’s DNP essentials as well as the Grand Canyon’s DNP 840 course (Ahmed et al.,2018). While the DNP course provides the goals and objectives that must be achieved, the DNP essentials offer the competencies the DNP learner needs to meet during the DNP program. Therefore, the purpose of this assignment is to compost a reflection on the completion of the Grand Canyon’s DNP 840 and the learning and scholarly activities accomplished to help achieve the set goals and objectives.
Reflection
The Grand Canyon’s DNP 840 mainly focused on leadership for advanced nursing practice. Therefore, the DNP student had a chance to learn and acquire more knowledge regarding leadership for advanced nursing practice. Besides, as part of the course, the DNP student also gained valuable knowledge on the functions of financial insight, business, system thinking, and political skills in advanced nursing practice (Zaccagnini & Pechacek, 2019). During the course, various activities were accomplished, such as peer discussions and class assignments, which were all critical to the achievement of the course objectives, goals, and particular DNP essentials. The course was also important in equipping the DNP student with essential leadership skills required in advanced nursing practice and complex clinical or care environments and the analytical skills required for appropriate decision-making. Among the skills obtained are those that can be used to conceptualize inter-disciplinary and interprofessional care delivery models key to nursing practice. As such, the next section explores the DNP essentials met during the completion of DNP 840.
Essential II: Organizational and System Leadership for Quality Improvement
Various essentials were met by completing DNP 840. Among the DNP essentials met is the second essential, which deals with the system and organization leadership used to improve patient care services and ensure patient safety in the clinical and hospital environment. This competency was achieved through various activities such as class assignments and discussions. For example, various assignments focusing on leadership, leadership styles, and leadership theory were completed. The DNP student explored these leadership styles in relation to how they can be applied to trigger organizational growth and achieve mission, vision, and goals for better patient outcomes (Pattison & Corser, 2022). There was also a chance to acquire more knowledge regarding healthcare organization leadership and what it takes to be a successful leader in such organizations.
Essential V: Health Care Policy for Advocacy in Health Care
The next essential which was achieved upon the completion of DNP 840 is essential to number five. Essential number five mainly focuses on healthcare advocacy and policy in healthcare organizations and the healthcare environment. Recent studies show that healthcare policy heavily impacts how healthcare is provided and the activities and operations carried out in the healthcare environment to fulfill the set goals and objectives. Therefore, it is important that advanced practice nurses have the knowledge required in terms of policy, their impacts, and their role in policy formulation and advocacy for improved competency. (Edwards et al.,2018). Essential number five was achieved by the DNP student by participating in class assignments, class discussions, and peer discussions. In one of the assignments, the DNP leader completed an assignment that focused on health policy. As part of this assignment, various policies related to healthcare were explored. In addition, the student completed an assignment that required an exploration of laws and bills related to nursing practice and how these laws and bills affect nursing practice, as well as how these laws and bills are aligned to the safety, quality, and safety metrics for specific organizations.

Essential VI: Inter-Professional Collaboration for Improving Patient and Population Health Outcomes
Apart from the discussed essentials, the completion of DNP 840 also coincided with achieving essential number six. Essential six focuses on interprofessional collaboration and how such collaborations influence patient and population outcomes. Therefore, the DNP student also accomplished this essential by engaging in various activities such as discussions and assignments, and other scholarly activities. One assignment which was particularly key to meeting the requirements of this essential was the completion of the week seven assignment. Week seven assignment mainly dealt with leading, management, stewarding, and collaboration. As part of this assignment, the DNP student explored coalition building and collaborations that can be used to improve patient outcomes (Zaccagnini & Pechacek, 2019). The student also explored advocacy as a tool for improving patient outcomes, and it was evident that advocacy can be used to improve care outcomes.
Conclusion
This reflective journal is an attestation that the DNP student participated in relevant activities to accomplish the DNP essentials and the Grand Canyon’s DNP 840 course objectives and goals. Some of the activities undertaken include project updates, peer discussion, reading and learning activities, and class assignments. All these activities were key to achieving the class objectives and the three DNP essentials discussed.

DNP 840 Political Activism Sample Answer
Political Activism
Government policy, regulation, or laws, especially those related to healthcare, usually affect the healthcare sector and how patient services are offered or accomplished. Therefore, it is important for the relevant stakeholders to actively participate in the legislation process and the political processes associated with the process. By the nature of their training, DNP-prepared nurses are expected to actively participate in various processes, such as patient advocacy, and apply the necessary and available strategies and channels to influence laws or regulations to favor service delivery and improve patient outcomes (McCauley et al.,2020). As such, the purpose of this paper is to locate a recent policy within the stage and use appropriate evidence to offer a stance on it. In addition, a letter will be drafted, addressed to a relevant legislature, explaining how they should consider the policy.
The Current Health Care Policy
The District of Columbia has had several policies in recent times seeking to make reforms on various aspects of patient care and service delivery. The proposed policies are in various stages, and some are likely to become laws soon. One of the most current policies in the District of Columbia that deserve attention is B25-0125- The Uniform Telehealth Act of 2023. This is a bill that seeks to address issues regarding telehealth (“District,” 2023). It seeks to ensure that licensed health practitioners in the District offer health care through telehealth. The policy also seeks to expand the circumstances under which practitioners who got qualifications out of the state can be allowed to offer telehealth services to patients in the District of Columbia. This policy was introduced by Mendelson, the chairman, upon formal request by the Uniform Law Commission.
According to the proponents of the policy, this policy will play a critical role in promoting health equity and enhancing improved and widespread access to effective and timely healthcare services to people who may find it physically or financially burdening to honor healthcare appointments. This policy has two major goals. One of them is to offer a provision that licensed healthcare professionals allowed to offer healthcare services within the District of Columbia are allowed to go ahead and offer telehealth services while observing other rules and the requirements as defined by the scope of practice (“District,” 2023). The other aim is to expand the circumstances under which healthcare professionals who got qualifications out of the state can be allowed to offer telehealth services to patients within the District of Columbia. This policy also outlines that a healthcare professional such as a practitioner can only offer the intended telehealth services to patients within the District of Columbia if the services to be offered fall within the particular practitioner’s scope of practice and are within the laws of the district and federal laws. Telehealth services can also be offered only if they are applicable to the District’s professional practice standards.
Personal Stance on the Policy Based on Current Evidence
The policy is a current one and has been aligned to make the District move with the current health requirements of every population. The coming of Covid-19 pandemic exposed the soft underbelly of various healthcare systems, and it was evident that every healthcare system needs to adjust various aspects if they are to perform any better in similar situations in the future. Indeed, it was during the coming of the pandemic that the use of telehealth saw an immense rise as people’s movements were restricted to curb the spread of the virus (Monaghesh& Hajizadeh, 2020). It is important to note that individuals with various chronic conditions still had to get the healthcare attention they needed, and therefore, there was no better strategy to use than telehealth.
Telehealth has been shown to improve access to care even for individuals in remote locations who find it difficult to physically access the care they need. Therefore, this policy that seeks to expand the use of telehealth in the District of Columbia will have several benefits. The residents will be able to have improved access to various healthcare services in the comfort of their homes. In addition, the strategy is expected to significantly reduce the cost of healthcare as individuals will not have to travel far unnecessarily to access care (Gajarawala& Pelkowski, 2020).
Letter to the Legislator
To,
Council Member Brianne K. Nadeau
Ward 1
District of Columbia
Dear Madam,
Re: B25-0125- The Uniform Telehealth Act of 2023
My Name is Carolyne, a Doctor of Nursing Practice student at Grand Canyon University. My interest and practice have drawn my attention to the policy stated in the reference. I am writing to let you know my stance on this law and persuade you to kindly support it. This policy is long overdue as telehealth plays a critical role in improving patient care services and quality of care by improving access to care. I believe that your passion for affordable housing means that you have the health of individuals at heart. Therefore, I strongly believe that you will be in a position to support this legislation. Since the policy is still in its early stages, I offer my piece of advice that you help rally other officials to support it since it will help improve the health of individuals in the District of Columbia as appropriate. Thank you.
Yours sincerely
Carolyn
