Re: Topic 5 DQ 2
The role of nurses in the health care setting is constantly changing and evolving. But, the role of the nurse, not only as a vital team member, is one that the plan of care runs thru. We are the gate keepers. The role of the nurse in the acute rehabilitation setting, where I work, revolves around the us helping the patient regain independence and self-confidence in performing there self care once again. Physical, occupational, speech, and respiratory therapy have there times for sessions but it is up to the nurse to advocate for the patient if they are well enough to participate in certain therapy sessions. The biggest EBP practice that we use is data collection thru vitals and patient information that they give us during daily assessments. One of the biggest and most important practices we use at my work is the Otago exercise program for our fall victims and we are noticing a decrease in repeat admissions. This would not be possible without the support of the family mambers of our patients which our the largest stakeholders we assist.

Sample Answer 2 for NRS 445 Analyze the role nurses play in improving health care quality and safety through the use of evidence-based practice (EBP)
The role of nurses in evidence-based practice cannot be overemphasized. Evidence-based practice is now widely recognized as the key to improving healthcare quality and patient outcomes. Although the purposes of nursing research (conducting research to generate new knowledge) and evidence-based nursing practice (utilizing best evidence as basis of nursing practice) seem quite different, an increasing number of research studies have been conducted with the goal of translating evidence effectively into practice. Evidence-based practice is crucial to nursing practice as it promotes safe, effective, and high-quality patient care. It helps healthcare professionals make well-informed decisions, minimize medical errors, standardize care procedures, and enhance the nursing profession’s credibility.

Sample Answer 3 for NRS 445 Analyze the role nurses play in improving health care quality and safety through the use of evidence-based practice (EBP)
Nurses play a very importantl role in advancing healthcare quality and safety through evidence-based practice. By integrating research findings into clinical practice, advocating for patient-centered care, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, nurses contribute to continuous improvement and innovation in healthcare delivery. Successful implementation of EBP projects in the workplace requires thoughtful consideration of internal stakeholder perspectives, effective communication, and proactive engagement to ensure sustainable improvements in patient care outcomes and safety. In a healthcare setting, such as the hospital where I work, implementing EBP involves several key steps and considerations like identifying a relevant EBP project, engaging stakeholders and gaining their support, in hopes of improving patient care and outcomes. One EBP project that can be implemented is reducing nosocomial infection/infection transmission by decreasing exposure between surgical patients and contact precaution patients. By monitoring the outcomes of EBP initiatives, collecting data, and assessing the impact of evidence-based interventions on patient care outcomes and safety metrics, we can provide evidence to out stakeholders and our interdisciplinary team that by taking extra preventative measures, such as avoiding caring for both simultaneously and keeping good hand hygiene when caring for patients with contact precautions and surgical patients. Evidence based practice encourages nurses to continually evaluate their practice as and stay up to date with new evidence that will improve our quality of care.

Sample Answer 4 for NRS 445 Analyze the role nurses play in improving health care quality and safety through the use of evidence-based practice (EBP)
Evidence based practice (EBP) is defined as using current best evidence, clinical expertise and patient values to help healthcare providers with providing best health practices to improve the patients outcome and EBP is patient centered. It is important to note that EBP is dynamic and it is an ongoing process and implementation can be a bit challenging in the first few weeks that a new EBP is being implemented.
Nurses are vital in the implementation of EBP as they help identify knowledge gaps where EBP can be used to improve patient care. Nurses spend most of their time with patients hence they are able to evaluate if the implemented EBP is effective in the improvement of patient outcomes, and they also help with the continuous monitoring and improvement of an implemented EBP.
My workplace was recently taken over by another company and the new company came with new EBP that they were implementing in other facilities under them. Nurses were implementing these new EBPs but there was a push back when they were introduced but then as the weeks progressed there was a staff meeting and most nurses agreed that the new EBPs were effective and they had better patient outcomes. Some of the stakeholders that need to be considered in the implementation of the new EBPs are all the healthcare providers involved in the care of the patient and also the top management as implementation of some EBPs need extra funds. Patients also need to be considered as the implementation of these practices affect their outcomes and also are supposed to be cost effective for their pockets.
