NUR 514 Organizational Leadership and Informatics

The course examines the role of informatics, policy, organizational science, and leadership in support of cost-effective, high-quality, and safe patient care within dynamic and interprofessional healthcare surroundings. Learners are needed to explore different firm relationships in the healthcare system and get ready to take an active role in designing an innovative and cost-effective model of delivering care and practice change proposals. The course will also introduce students to professional leadership theories and their role in shaping the nurse leader in negotiation, decision-making, conflict resolution, and collaboration. 

Students must discuss change management theories while evaluating the political, economic, legal, social, and ethical implications of practice change and healthcare informatics. In the course, students will also discuss the strategies used to manage health care, fiscal, and human resources in various firm systems. Finally, students will be required to examine the uses of communication technologies, information systems, and patient care and discuss the evaluation, implementation, and design of clinical decision support systems and electronic health record systems.

Topic 1: Health Care Systems, Organizational Relationships, and Interprofessional Health Care Environments

In this first assignment, students should explore their new classroom while getting to know their classmates. The paper will explain what students find exciting in their learning process and what they find most challenging.

Topic 1 DQ 1

The assessment will entail exploring the evolution of the United States healthcare framework. The paper will discuss how the transition to value-based health care has affected care delivery and the responsibilities and roles of the advanced registered nurse. Markedly, the paper will require the learner to project the main evolving trends in the healthcare delivery system, how they will impact nursing practice, and how advanced registered nurses will play a role in influencing the health care direction.
