Re: Topic 3 DQ 2
Change is necessary if organizations must keep up with the rapidly evolving trends in the world today. It is critical to choose a model that will support the change process to be able to be successful. Human beings naturally may not adjust to change easily due to perceived inconveniences that may arise during the change process. Two most popular change models are Kurt Lewin’s and ADKAR change models. Lewin’s model focuses on changing the behavior (unfreezing), introducing the desired behavior (freezing) and cementing the new behavior into practice (refreezing) DeNisco, 2024). On the other hand, ADKAR focuses on the employees by involving them from the beginning through the entire process. It begins by making them aware of the desired and reason for change (Awareness), the employees are persuaded to agree with the change by sharing supporting literature thereby increasing their (Desire), information about the change is given to the team (Knowledge) then allowing them to practice what they learn (Ability) while reinforcing any information as well as acknowledging their achievement (Reinforcement) (Avignone, 2021). Both these models focus on getting the desired change to be adopted in the organization while focusing on behavior change. While Lewin’s model is straight forward with its three steps, ADKAR requires constant follow up through the entire process which might take up a lot of time required for implementation. Ali et al. (2021) concluded that there was perceived ease of use of a phenomenon when there is awareness therefore, ADKAR enables subjects to be more willing to change after getting the knowldege involved. Since my project involves school children and the need to integrate the change project in their daily activities, Lewin’s model will be best suited for implementation. They will require fewer educational sessions while carefully ensuring that each stage is thoroughly attended to.

Sample Answer 2 for NUR 590 Review the different frameworks/models that can be used to facilitate change
There are several different models that facilitate change in the healthcare setting. One of them is The Kurt Lewin’s Change Management Model. This model consists of three stages – unfreezing, changing, and refreezing. Unfreezing involves preparing the organization for change by overcoming resistance, changing involves implementing the actual change, and refreezing involves stabilizing the change and ensuring it becomes a part of the organization’s culture. Another model is The Prochaska and DiClemente’s Stages of Change Model. This model consists of six stages – precontemplation, contemplation, preparation, action, maintenance, and termination. It suggests that individuals go through these stages when making changes in their behavior, and interventions should be tailored to the individual’s stage of change (Harrison et al., 2021).
For an evidence-based practice proposal to decrease maternal mortality, the Prochaska and DiClemente’s Stages of Change Model would be more suitable. This is because maternal mortality is a complex issue that involves changing behavior and practices, both at the individual level (e.g. pregnant women seeking prenatal care) and at the institutional level (e.g. healthcare providers following evidence-based guidelines) (Marshall & Bidddle, 2001).
Rationale: The Stages of Change Model is more focused on individual behavior change, which is crucial in addressing maternal mortality. By understanding where individuals are in their readiness to change, healthcare providers can tailor their interventions to be more effective and increase the likelihood of sustainable change. Additionally, this model takes into account the importance of maintenance and termination stages, ensuring that the changes made are sustained over time (Littel & Girvin, 2002).

NUR-590 Topic 4 DQ 1 Sample Answer
There are many data collection tools available for research. Data collection is defined as “the process of gathering and measuring information on variables of interest, in an established systematic fashion that enables one to answer stated research questions, test hypotheses, and evaluate outcomes” (Ewen, n.d.). You can utilize surveys, questionnaires, personal interviews, focus groups, observation, and case studies; just to name a few. The type of data collection tool that is used depends on the type of research data needed, whether it is quantitative data or qualitative data. Data collection must be accurate in order to provide valid and reliable research results. I found both quantitative and qualitative articles that support my research question, which is: Does increased disease management and healthy lifestyle education decrease the prevalence of progression from renal insufficiency to Chronic Kidney Disease in the African American population?
Some challenges to data collection are data quality issues, finding relevant data, deciding what data is important, unstructured data, and low participant response for data collection. My research project focuses on decreasing the prevalence of disease progression from renal insufficiency to chronic kidney disease in the African American community through education and lifestyle changes. I would use questionnaires to determine education level and lifestyle behaviors. I would also use medical records information such as demographics and lab results for data collection. To maintain the integrity of the data collected, each potential participant will be given informed consent to increase understanding of why such data is needed and the importance of being truthful and providing accurate data.
