My approach to identify and analyze peer-reviewed research is based on critical reading as well as evaluation of articles to identify the best that is in line with my topic. Through intensive reading of materials from different library databases, I was able to classify these publications as either peer-reviewed or not and also identified their relevance for clinical research (Cooper et al., 2018). Notably, peer-reviewed articles are also checked in terms of the quality of the publication by analyzing accuracy and assessing validity of the research. For me to achieve this, I refined my search strategy by selecting relevant topic and ensured that the results in the manuscript were relevant to the present study by selecting the latest publication (Krishnamurthy & Wood, 2018).
I found data search skills and evaluation of types of resources in scholarly journals as two strategies that I would use in finding peer-reviewed articles. The first strategy enhances my ability to retrieve materials from a search database (Lefebvre et al., 2019). It is always a challenge for a majority of students to evaluate relevant materials for their studies but with the data search skills, one can categorize databases that are relevant to their area of research and select keywords to limit their searches. It then means that database search can be useful in locating published materials by selecting an alphabetical listing that coincides with the topic of research. The use of online library databases is also easy to navigate as one opts to find relevant information during studies (Tricco et al., 2018). While reading this article, I took careful notes on the author’s main arguments and evidence they provided to support these claims.

One resource that I intend to use in future to find peer-reviewed research include medical databases. Databases consists of numerous articles with diverse topics. There are a few things to keep in mind when looking for peer-reviewed articles from academic databases: -Not all articles in academic databases are peer-reviewed. Make sure to look for the “peer-reviewed” designation before assuming that an article has been reviewed by experts in the field. -Not all peer-reviewed articles are published in journals. Some are published in conference proceedings or other types of publications. -The title of an article is not always a good indicator of whether or not it is peer-reviewed. Hello, everyone. You may call me Sarah. I am from West Virginia where I live with my fiancé and our one-year-old labradoodle. I currently work as an RN in a Cardiac Step-down Unit and an Endoscopy Center in Morgantown, West Virginia. I have also had some experience with Addiction Medicine and Women’s Health outpatient settings. I love exploring opportunities and connecting with new people.
I am excited to begin working towards my professional and academic goals with Walden since I believe their values are strong enough to lead me on the right path to success. I am working to become a proficient practitioner to improve the greater good, facilitate positive social change, and provide excellent care in my community. Each of my values aligns with Walden’s vision, mission, goals, and social change initiatives (Walden University, 2022b).
The Walden MSN Program Outcomes and perspectives relate to my goals professionally and academically by preparing me to become a scholar-practitioner. For example, I believe that to become competent, one must be able to not only assess, diagnose, and treat a patient in an evidence-based, efficient, patient-centered manner, but also display exemplary communication skills and interactions with diverse populations which align with the program learning outcomes (Walden University, 2022a). Without becoming competent in just one of these outcomes, I believe one cannot perform as a skillful practitioner. I hope to meet these outcomes and excel at my goals.
I have found myself in many new, exciting experiences because of the connections I have made. I have never called these new relationships “networking”, but many were examples of either social or professional networking. As a blog post on BluePipes references, networking provides more routes for new jobs and support. However, my favorite is that it provides access to the latest research and technology (Schmidt, n.d.). I believe in the phrase “two brains are better than one”, and I love bouncing ideas off of other people with different experiences. Without networking, keeping up to date on the newest advancements in health care is much more difficult. By becoming a member of professional organizations such as the ANA and AANP, I stay up to date on the latest ideas. Even though active professional networking is out of my comfort zone, I hope to become more active in making professional connections by the end of this course.

NURS 6003 6002 Examining Nursing Specialties
The specialty I chose is MSN Nurse Executive. The decision required some self-assessment regarding my strengths and weaknesses, reflection on my career, and consultation with other Master prepared nurses. Besides my administrative work, I get to collaborate within my facility and systemwide on workforce development and employee engagement. When my staff is crazy busy, I can still allow myself to work alongside my team, ensuring that my clinical skills remain competent.
“A professional organization, also called a professional association or body, seeks to further a particular profession and the interest of its members and the public it serves.” (Echevarria, 2018, p.35).
The organization that represents my specialty is the American Organization for Nurse Leadership. Membership is geared towards nurses in leadership roles such as managers, directors, and nurse executives. I attended the Pennsylvania Organization of Nurse Leaders last year, allowing me to network with other leaders within the state. It also provided educational opportunities and a chance to evaluate if this organization is worthy of joining. Each professional organization provides an environment where members share their successes and failures. Cherry et al. describes professional organizations as a place where leaders can engage in meaningful discussions about processes and challenges that they encounter (2019),
